Welcome to my new travel blog feature: Sunday Postcard! Why Sunday? Well, it’s the day I thought up the idea and it seemed like as good a day as any. The more I think about it though, the more it makes sense – before we start a new working week, let’s have a brief pause and a catch up for some travel inspiration with a cup of tea! (or whatever your preferred tipple is…)
It’s no secret that I adore postcards. I love buying them, sending them, receiving them – and I’m lucky to have a lot of friends who, when they’re out and about on their travels, send me a postcard to brighten up my day.
I’m also a member of a website called Postcrossing, a community of postcard lovers from all over the world who send postcards to each other. It’s such a novel idea and so addictive!
To help me showcase each postcard, I’ve enlisted the help of my glamorous assistant: my ginger kitten, Jim. If you don’t like cats, I do apologise, but at least there will be a nice travel picture for you to look at.
So, without further ado, I present to you my first ever Sunday postcard – from Seoul, South Korea!
My friend Dulce sent me this postcard on one of her travels. She lives on the island of Guam, and regularly makes a stop off in South Korea when flying in order to visit friends and experience the culture.
I’d never considered going to Seoul before I met Dulce, but having looked into a bit further, I’m gasping to go. My friend Dina lived in South Korea for a little while and has written about her experience on her blog. She, too, has nothing but pleasant things to say about the city of Seoul:
“I loved their culture – everything was open late, it’s cheap, the people are friendly or just mind their own business. They are very polite and show respect openly.”
What an Asian gem!
Have you been to Seoul – if so what was your favourite bit?
