What do you pack when you go on an open road trip?

Whether it be duct tape, cat treats or a cheeky bottle of wine, Enterprise Rent-A-Car UK are on the look-out for your quirky packing essentials.

My selection is definitely quite a mix: comfort, style, entertainment, and things that remind me of home.

1. A good book – Jules Verne is one of my favourite authors, and his books never fail to imbue me with a sense of adventure.

2. Teddy bear – Yes, I am 23 and still take my teddy all over the world with me…

3. Mini Diana camera and film – for photos that look a little bit different.

4. Hair grips – I am a girl, and it is therefore my curse that I lose around 23 of these a day. In fact, I’ve lost all of these hair grips since taking the photo.

5. Glasses (in a map case) – Because if I’m going to read that Jules Verne book, I’d better treat my eyes or they will not be thanking me 16 headaches later.

6. Yorkshire Tea – The best brand of tea, bar none. Sure I’m open to trying different types, but I always come back to my beloved Yorkshire tea.

7. Accessories – Including a colourful necklace and yellow flower – perfect for jazzing up a boring, plain outfit and making you feel a little bit better when you realise you haven’t washed for days.

8. Notebook and pen – Many a time have I foolishly left my notebook at home, thinking I could jot bits down on my phone. Let me tell you – it isn’t the same! I have quite a collection of notebooks from all over the world now, due to me having to pick up one everywhere I go!

9. iPod and headphones – Always handy for some private jiggling in the car, or for connecting to the car’s sound system for blasting out your awesome tunes (Well, Ricky Martin.)

10. Passport and money – Essential. Probably not as essential as the Yorkshire tea, but it depends on your outlook on life.

11. Chocolate – Goes perfectly with the tea, and helps when you’re feeling a bit peckish on long drives.

12. Phone – Good for keeping in touch with friends via WhatsApp and social media, as well as getting your daily fix of cat photos online.
