What’s the weather like where you are now? If it’s cold, rainy and just a little bit depressing, do not fret: there is hope on the horizon.
Virgin Holidays are looking for you to film yourself doing something that evokes the spirit of a summer holiday. The only catch? You have to carry out the act in the cold, wintry weather. Yikes.

My Video
As it’s only fair, I decided to make my own video (it’s my first one, so be gentle…). I tried to think of everything I related to the summer months, and then settled on the idea of creating my own little festival in a nearby field. I had so much fun putting on all my summer clothes again, and applying funky festival make-up. It was even pretty fun chucking myself round a field in the pouring rain trying to recreate that festival feeling – complete with pop-up tent (which wasn’t so much ‘pop-up’ as ‘listless piece of material’), camping material and wellies.
How to Enter
Entry is wonderfully easy (apart from the, y’know, getting cold bit).
Once you’ve filmed or taken a picture of your shivery act, you just need to do one of the following:
- Tweet your video/picture to @virginholidays
- Or, upload your entry to Instagram or Vine
- Remember to tag your entry with the hashtag: #boldinthecold
