It shames me to admit it, but when Visit Jersey got in touch with me to see if I could let you all know about this epic chance to win a trip to Jersey, I didn’t really know much about the place. This will greatly upset my friend who’s from Jersey and who has been trying to tell me it’s the best place ever for the past few years – but if anything, this has just given me more of a chance to agree with her!

Since Visit Jersey have got in touch, I’ve been doing more research on this incredible island, and it has sent my wanderlust into overdrive. And I’m sure that once you read this blog you’ll be dreaming of an indulgent escape as well!

Dreaming of a break to Jersey

Let’s get this first bit out of the way, because I am embarrassed to admit I didn’t know this. Located closer to France than to England, Jersey is actually the largest Channel Island – and it’s not part of the UK. It has its own thing going on, with its own financial, legal and judicial systems. Which automatically makes it pretty awesome.

But now, let’s get round to why I’m really dreaming of an escape to Jersey – and why you should be too!

Imagine the clear beaches of the Mediterranean, mixed with the cliffs of Madeira and the quaintness of a South Western English town. You wouldn’t think you could get all of these things in one place, but that’s exactly what Jersey manages to do.

On your Jersey trip, this is exactly the type of view you could see, you lucky thing.

Greve de Lecq Beach

It’s a little bit sickening to think that somewhere like this exists. Somewhere that’s practically on the front door of everyone in England (and France!). And yet so few of us have visited! It’s so quick to get there too. While the easiest way to get there is by air, it’s also possible to take a ferry over from Poole or Weymouth if you wanted to take your car along.

So let’s go into a few specifics. Here are the parts I would be ridiculously keen to visit on a Jersey trip:

1. The beaches

My visit to Cyprus really turned me into an absolute beach-lover. And when I saw the photos of Jersey’s beaches, my jaw dropped. Who knew such gorgeous beaches existed so close to Britain?! They’re honestly exactly like the Paphos beaches I fell so madly in love with.

This top picture is actually of The Minquiers, a group of islands and rocks just south of Jersey.  You can take guided tours from Jersey and pretend you’re in the Caribbean looking for Captain Jack Sparrow.

A Jersey trip could result in you finding places like this.

And if I hadn’t have been told previously that this was Jersey, I would have gone with somewhere in Spain:

2. The history

As a history graduate, I’m always on the hunt for my dose of learning when I’m away. World War 2 is one area of history I find fascinating, and Jersey was actually occupied by Germany for five years from 1940. (If you’re a fellow history buff and want to know more about this, I’d thoroughly recommend this page.)

The Jersey War Tunnels is probably the first place I would head to. Reading all about it is making me want to actually redo my whole history degree!

A Jersey trip isn't just about the beaches. There's also a plethora of history too

3. The activities

OK, so, hear me out. I know I’m the laziest person around, and my idea of sport is a Netflix marathon. However, if there was ever a place for me to really get involved in watersports, it would be in Jersey. It’s great for surfing, coasteering, scuba diving, inflatable rides – the lot. And, coupled with those gorgeous beaches from point one, that all makes Jersey one very tempting place to start my watersport career. Stranger things have happened, I guess.

4. The cows

I love animals, and I love cows (after seeing one in Scotland getting a little bit excited with its cow car wash).

And where else but Jersey to see the gorgeous Jersey cows?

...and you've got to make sure you see these beauts on your Jersey trip

Oh hai cows.

5. Picturesque scenery

Let’s not underestimate the power of beautiful scenery. A few days spent gazing out on colourful scenes such as this is enough to blow the cobwebs away for a long while.

Colour and magical beauty on your Jersey trip is pretty much guaranteed

How to win a trip to Jersey

There are so many reasons why a Jersey trip is a great idea. I’ve picked out my top reasons above, but what might appeal to me might sound like hell on earth to you! (Although I doubt it – you can’t go wrong with gorgeous beaches and beautiful harbours.)

Luckily, there is a website dedicated to showing you a glimpse of what Jersey could offer YOU. All it involves is selecting exactly what it is you look for in a holiday. Escape to Jersey will then show a personalised video of what could be waiting for you.

To win your very own trip to Jersey, all you have to do is this:

  • Find out exactly what your ideal trip to Jersey would look like on the Escape to Jersey website.
  • Enter your email.
  • Wait to find out if you’ve won a Jersey trip!

It’s really easy to enter (I’ve just done it myself!), and it could result in you cuddling all the Jersey cows and chilling on all the beaches you can find. Win!

This post is in collaboration with Visit Jersey. However, all thoughts are my very own, and I only ever work with companies that I would use myself or recommend to friends. All pictures are from Visit Jersey. Because, y’know, I’m yet to go there myself *sobs*.

Good luck, and let me know if you do decide to enter! What would be the one thing you would want to see in Jersey?
